We’re in an era of video contents, and lots of information are available for free, this has left many writers perturbed as to whether the traditional writing format we all once embraced is still relevant. I have clarified previously that writing can take any form, and as a writer you can always embrace video formats to present your craft. Nevertheless, there are writers like me out there who’d rather do it the age-long way. For me, I’d always prefer the regular writing and reading style. Therefore, you must understand that there are lots of readers out there who still like reading even where the same person also enjoy videos. In fact, 70% to 80% of internet users still actively read blogs, and over 80% of bloggers continue to report positive results, which means that blogging isn’t going away anytime soon.
Your blog should not only bear vital information which will interest your audience, it should also be an avenue for establishing a lucrative business for yourself. When you garner readers, your blog will become a free and easy way to bring before a large crowd other products or services you may offer.
Yes, blogging can still be a lucrative profession for those who are passionate and dedicated to creating quality content on a consistent basis. While it may take time to build a following and increase traffic to your site, there are several ways to monetize your blog, including:
1. Advertising – by placing Google AdSense or other ads on your blog.
There are several ways to advertise effectively depending on your target audience and the goals of your campaign. Here are a few tips:
a. Define your target audience: Before creating your ad, you need to know who your target audience is. Gather insights on their demographics (age, gender, location), interests, and behaviors to create personalized and relevant ads.
b. Choose the right platform: Consider where your target audience spends most of their time online. If they’re on social media, Facebook or Instagram might be good options. If they’re mostly reading articles, Google ads or banner ads on specific websites may be more effective.
c. Create clear and compelling messaging: Your ad should have a clear message that resonates with your target audience. Use simple language and highlight the benefits of your product or service.
d. Use high-quality visuals: You want your ad to grab attention, so use high-quality visuals like images, videos, or graphics that are eye-catching and relevant to your message.
e. Set a budget and monitor your ad performance: Set a budget for your ad campaign, and make sure to track and analyze its performance regularly. This will help you improve your ad targeting and messaging, and ensure that you’re getting a good return on investment.
f. Test and adjust your ads: Test different variations of your ads to see which ones perform the best. This will help you optimize your ad campaigns and make them more effective over time.
2. Affiliate marketing – by promoting products or services related to your niche and earning a commission on any resulting sales.
Here are some of the most popular affiliate programs:
a. Amazon Associates: Amazon Associates is the affiliate marketing program of Amazon. It offers up to 10% commission on products sold through your affiliate link.
b. ClickBank: ClickBank is a popular affiliate marketplace that offers commissions up to 75%. It mainly focuses on digital products like ebooks, online courses, and software.
c. Commission Junction: Commission Junction (CJ) is an affiliate marketing platform that connects publishers with merchants. It offers a wide variety of products and services to promote.
d. ShareASale: ShareASale is an affiliate marketing network that offers a variety of products and services. It has a large network of merchants and offers high payouts.
e. eBay Partner Network: eBay Partner Network is an affiliate program that offers commissions of up to 70% for every sale made through your affiliate link.
f. Rakuten Marketing: Rakuten Marketing is an affiliate marketing network that offers a wide range of products and services to promote. It offers high payouts and provides access to a large community of advertisers.
g. Shopify Affiliate Program: Shopify is a popular e-commerce platform that offers a generous affiliate program. It offers up to $2,000 for every new merchant referral.
These are just a few examples, and there are many other great affiliate programs available as well. It’s important to consider your niche and target audience when selecting an affiliate program to ensure you are promoting products that align with your brand and meet the needs of your audience.
3. Sponsored posts – by collaborating with brands or companies to write a post about their products or services. When you start having loyal readers, brands may approach you with advertisement deals which you’ll place your blog on their behalf. You can also approach brands by yourself using the right methods. These paid promotions will be one of the most lucrative income revenues you’ll eventually have.
4. Digital products – selling digital products like ebooks, online courses, or printables. For example, if you visit the shop section of this website, you’ll see several books written by me and other products on sale. These are of course sources of income. When a reader is having a good time perusing my blog and eventually visits the shop section, there’s a chance they may not leave empty-handed, they’ll likely find one thing of interest on sale and that means coffee money for me. In the nearest future, there may be printed versions of my books and probably online courses on areas my readers show more interest in.
5. Coaching or consulting – by offering your expertise to individuals or businesses looking for guidance in your niche. For instance, I’m a writing coach and and a relationship coach, I closed down my blog on relationship and decided to only write books on it instead, however, I still offer relationship coaching services for single women. People who read my books which they of course purchased on this website may decide to have a one-on-one consultation with me. Similarly, readers who enjoy my niche on ‘diverse writing’ may choose to learn more, thereby requesting personal coaching sessions.
However, it’s important to note that blogging requires dedication and consistency to achieve success. It may take time and effort to build a following and monetize your blog, but with persistence and a passion for creating quality content, blogging can be a lucrative and fulfilling profession.
